I wasn’t given a choice. Not when I did my first line of cocaine. Not when I became a single mother. But I changed, and every decision I’ve made was to protect myself and my son from my weaknesses—and my past.

Until Jude came along and made me question everything, even my own secrets.

The sins I carry with me can never be discovered. Life handed me broken bits of people and left me to construct my own world, and it’s too fragile to take a chance on Jude Mercer.

We write our own stories.
We build our own prisons.
We weave our own lies.
We commit the sins that bind us.

Every city needs a hero, but Detroit’s white knight just might be a villain.

A rough childhood branded Jasper Storm trouble. A bad boy. Not worth a damn. His love of cars was the only thing that could battle his delinquency. With the need for speed in his blood, he overcame his wayward ways. Mostly. All grown up, the broken city of Detroit hails him their shining star. And the man behind a new cutting-edge automobile is ready to turn this bankrupt town around.

Everything he does in life is fast. He talks fast, f*cks fast, and drives fast. But when one reckless turn brings him face-to-face with the childhood he has tried very hard to forget, he finds himself on the edge of wondering if he shouldn’t slow down.

Charlotte Lane was the tomboy who lived next door. She was his best friend. He was her protector. Then tragedy struck and she disappeared, forever—or so he thought.

Jasper has many reasons to hate Charlotte and keep his distance, but she’s infiltrating his every thought and he can’t stay away. Back in town with an agenda of her own, she should push him aside. Make him turn around. Walk away herself. Yet she can't.

With the past lurking between them, they proceed with caution. That is until one sex-filled night leads to murder. When Detroit’s biggest ally suddenly becomes suspect number one, will Charlotte—the girl Jasper once kept safe—be the one to save him?

Wheezed the Juice then Candied the Peel

Nice Sunday morning and since Grandma brought us some Clementines from her visit yesterday; it was perfect set up to Wheeze (squeeze) some fresh squeezed orange juice.
Easy way to not only involve your toddler but since mine lacks interest in his fruits and veggies , this is one sure fire way to get them the nutrients they need. Plus they help so they feel amazing about themselves and I would wager the juice tastes amazing to.
As far as helping I set up the old school juicer onto the bowl and sliced the Clementines , but let my toddler have at it. I did of course squeeze the end trails of juice from his "finished " ones .

Finished product and he was so happy that he made it . Heard "Yum , so good" , more than a few times.

Inspiration struck of course looking at all the leftover halves of the Clementines , leading us to the purpose of this post the Candied Peels.
Perfect for a picky eater to get some essential vitamins and minerals. No clue why I had never thought of this before. Peels contain Dietary Fibre, Vitamins, A, C, E, Iron, Calcium, Potassium , just to name a few of the many vitamins and minerals you benefit from .

To Candy Your Peel

I flipped the peel over and easily took the insides off, I washed all the peels as well once cleaned of orange guts.  We used 4 Clementines.
I finely chopped mine, but you can julienne them as thin or as thick as you want.
Put on stove to boil in just enough cold water to cover them . Let this boil 30 min , just peels and water . Strain into a strainer as you will need to reuse your pot and the peels can drain of excess water while preparing syrup. Boil 1 Cup of sugar and 1/2 a Cup of water on the stove for 5 minutes.  I should add though that dependant upon how much peel you intend to make you may need to use more sugar water ratio.  If you use 2 cups of sugar you would use 1 cup of water and so forth. I needed only a small amount for the amount of peel and size of peel I used.
Once you have boiled your simple syrup of your sugar and water add the peels to the mix. You want to have medium heat at this point as we are going to simmer the peels into the syrup for another 5 minutes. I stirred once each minute.  After the 5 minutes simmer you will want to drain your syrup from the peels. I chose to save my simple syrup for future baking use.
At this point I put some sugar on a plate so I could roll my peels in it. I used about 1/4 of a cup but measurement is not significant as you just want to roll and coat each piece.
So here you are , yummy candied orange peels. Once you have coated in the sugar you will want to place on a wire rack to dry. This is the only bummer part of the whole equation because now they have to sit and dry for 4 hours .  So now we wait , but will be so worth it. After the 4 hours if you have any left you will want to store them in an airtight container .

Reviewing a product or service for YOU !!! Why you should chose Me to work with .

I love reviewing products. As a single Mom anywhere that I can incorporate items that benefit myself and my toddler for free or as near to free as possible is a huge game changer for us; in an amazing positive way .

With me, you are giving your product to someone to try who really appreciates it, can use it, and values it more than just someone who wants a free product. Your product or service is not just another thing for free to me. It is so much more and accepted and valued with such a high standard of gratitude.

The reason behind is enough for you to be comfortable knowing that the person you entrusted with receiving your product, will provide you with the utmost respect and value.

Oh did I mention that I DO NOT CHARGE A MONETARY FEE to work with you. Nope , no extra fees to you for some extra free marketing . Of course I do require the product or service free of charge(shipping incl.) in exchange for an open and honest review. And open and honest I am .  I will of course and do disclose that the product was given to facilitate the review.

My toddler is my helper in reviews with products that he can use or try , and if I need to branch out for help I have family for that.

At times when you wish to include the same product or service given to me as a prize for a giveaway to be a part of the review post; it is your complete responsibility to ship the prize to the winner with no responsibility falling on my shoulders except for returning the winners complete address and details to you.

The way I see it for myself is that if you are gracious enough to send me your product, you are putting your trust in me to provide an open and honest review all facets included. The least I can do for you is provide the blog review and some of my time for the gift of your product or service.

I may go about it differently then other bloggers who are out there just to score the goods , I may be a small blogger in terms of not being "viral" as they say , but I do have a good following and one I am proud of and I seem to do all right. Just take a look at some review posts and you will know what I mean . I may think differently then others about how they feel with companies and their use of marketing methods and whether your time should be paid for or not. But that is just me .

I appreciate the chance to work with any company , home business , or service big or small .

You can reach out to me on my Facebook pages either my personal page or my Blog page :
Facebook ME
Facebook BLOG
or
Send me a direct email :
GMAIL

I appreciate your visit and stopping by , even if you are just here to have a read .
And of course it goes with out saying that all goods , products, or services I receive to review are mine to keep and will not be returned to sponsor .

Excerpt
For a man who’d spent years, decades, running from his emotions, it was a strange place to find himself. It scared him.
She scared him.
Eyes still closed, he laid down the first of the drum fills, adding a few extra flourishes because that’s how he was hearing it in his head. Played through the whole song from memory, then did it again and again, embellishing it a little more each time through.
It didn’t take long for his arms and pecs to start aching—it had been too long since he’d played the drums on a daily basis—but he played through it, pounding away at the skins with everything he had in him.
Fourth time through the song, he switched to “Closer,” then to “In the A.M.,” then to “Deified.” By the time he’d run through those a couple of times, his biceps were burning, his hands throbbing. And still he didn’t stop.
Instead, he switched on the recorder he always kept next to his drum kit and started wailing away, playing the beat that had been in his head since he’d seen Poppy waiting for him in her doorway last night, arms open and face welcoming. The melody had started then, in the back of his head, and by the time he’d had her up against the wall it had been a towering crescendo of drumbeats that he couldn’t ignore even if he’d wanted to.
Which he hadn’t. It had been too long since music had burned inside him like that.
He played the song through the way he heard it, keeping a fast thirty-two-beat rhythm on the hi-hat while he worked the snare, the bass, and the floor tom in alternating rhythms. It sounded good, really good, and as he banged out a long, elaborate fill on the toms and crash cymbals, he knew he was onto something.
Though all he was doing was laying down the beat, he could hear the song in his head so clearly. Jared coming in with a quiet but pure guitar presence while Quinn took front and center with his keyboards. Bass—whoever the fuck that turned out to be—would hang back with Wyatt, playing low to underscore. And Ryder…fuck, Ryder’s voice would own this song. He would destroy it. Just the thought sent excitement rioting through him.
Usually, Wyatt and Quinn were the music guys, while Ryder and Jared did most of the lyrics. Every once in a while, though, a song would come to him fully formed, like “Seventeen Again” had, an early version of the lyrics tearing through his head even as he pounded away at the drums.
This song was like that, the words running through his brain like a rain-swollen river, pouring out of him as fast and powerfully as the music had. Even knowing they weren’t perfect, he sang them aloud, let the recorder get every syllable.
When it was over, he ran through the song over and over again while everything was still fresh in his mind. Playing and singing, singing and playing, until his shirt was drenched in sweat and his arms felt like they were going to fall off.
And still he played. Still he wailed away at the drums like the demons of hell were after him. Or worse, like the sins of his past had finally caught up to him after all the years he’d run and all the drugs he’d used to keep them at bay.
And maybe they had. Maybe they had.
Since he couldn’t do anything about it, he played instead.
Long after sweat rolled into his eyes and poured down his face.
Long after his shoulders and biceps and pecs cramped up.
Long, long after blisters formed between his fingers.
He played and played and played, like these drums were the only thing standing between him and hell. And like getting this one song right was his only chance at salvation.
At one point, the blister on his right index finger cracked open and started to bleed. He grabbed one of the clean towels he always kept next to the kit, tore a strip off it, and kept playing. When his left index finger followed suit a couple of minutes later, he did the same thing. And then he played through that, too.
The pain was there, his nerve endings sending agonized alerts to his brain, but he ignored them. Compartmentalized them. Put them in a part of his brain he didn’t need to access to play, and then concentrated on the music. On the beat. Right now, it was the only thing that mattered.
