The Sea in Winter Awareness Tour and Giveaway

ABOUT THE BOOK

The Sea in Winter

Written by Christine Day

Publisher’s Synopsis: In this evocative and heartwarming novel for readers who loved The Thing About Jellyfish, the author of I Can Make This Promise tells the story of a Native American girl struggling to find her joy again.

It’s been a hard year for Maisie Cannon, ever since she hurt her leg and could not keep up with her ballet training and auditions.

Her blended family is loving and supportive, but Maisie knows that they just can’t understand how hopeless she feels. With everything she’s dealing with, Maisie is not excited for their family midwinter road trip along the coast, near the Makah community where her mother grew up.

But soon, Maisie’s anxieties and dark moods start to hurt as much as the pain in her knee. How can she keep pretending to be strong when on the inside she feels as roiling and cold as the ocean?

REVIEW
Christine Day has captured the essence of self failure at its core. She has taken a wonderfully imaginative, invoking, descriptive story and poured in feelings we may have all very well felt. Or in essence have had those feeling that debilitate us from feeling contented in our life.
While written for a YA audience even as an adult she touched that child within, invoked feelings once thought lost but brought to the forefront.
I prefer to let my audience connect with the emotion around a book instead of just retelling the synopsis in my own words. You become to know just how much a read can touch you; bringing more value in hopes they themselves read and connect to the book even in its smallest measure.
Realistically there is a Maisie inside everyone as an adult. Your inner child can connect with a dream from the past shattered and influencing your present no matter what level.
Clear it , clean it begin anew.
